UNILEVER Presents Ticket To Students

Accra, Aug. 15, -- Unilever Ghana Limited, today presented two final year students of the University of Ghana Medical School with air tickets for an eight - week attachment course with two medical schools abroad . Messrs Victor Etwire and Martin Tamatey who were winners of the eighth Unilever Medical elective award were in addition given certificates and a cash of 2,600 dollars . Mr Etwire will be attached to the university of Leicester, UK and Mr. Tamatey will be in Oslo, Norway . The total sponsorship for the two is 17. 2 million cedis. Dr. Kweku Sarkodee , Group Medical Advisor of Unilever, said the company's active involvement in the health sector dates back to 1988 and it has contributed one billion cedis to that sector. Dr Sarkodee said the company intends to continue assisting in the sports sector and also give to charity. He expressed the hope that the internship will benefit the two students and said the company will like to be furnished with reports on their return to enable them monitor the effectiveness of the awards scheme. Professor Samuel Owusu , Dean of the University of Ghana Medical School, asked the award winners to be good ambassadors of both the country and the school.
