I am still in the race - La Dadekotopn MP

Accra, Aug 25, GNA - The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for La Dadekotopon, Dr Francis N. A. Sowah, has called on members and supporters of the party in the area to unite solidly behind him to take over the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December elections.

Speaking at La in Accra, he stated that with the 2008 general election just some few months away, the concern of all true supporters and members of the party should be how to "fine tune" their strategies for the NPP to retain power and win back the constituency and not acts that "will draw back the gains made".

He dispelled rumours that he had withdrawn from the race to contest the 2008 elections as a result of ill-health and said like every human being he was indisposed but that had been exaggerated.

Dr Sowah who was in the United States for medical check-up and treatment said he had been declared fit and called on supporters and members of the party to ignore what he called "the propaganda" that he had withdrawn from contesting the elections on the NPP ticket. The NPP parliamentary candidate announced plans to meet polling station chairmen as part of an elaborate campaign strategy and said materials for the programme from the US had already been assembled to make a sure victory for the party.

Dr Sowah who had already met the constituency executive to discuss plans for the campaign described the calls for his replacement as "defeatist" adding that, "Democrats must behave as such after having won the delegates' conference and sure of victory in the election".
