Hawa Yakubu Endorses A Mills-Mahama Team

The New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Hawa Yakubu says NDC Director Communication, John Mahama will be the ideal person to partner the NDC?s flag bearer in the forth coming elections.

Mad Yakubu says a Professor Mills?John Mahama duo will be the best team from the NDC to give the NPP a run for its money in the forthcoming elections.

According to the vociferous NPP MP, Mr. John Mahama as a vice presidential material will earn the NDC the votes they require to win any election.

But she says that challenge can only come in 2008 presidential polls which President Kufuor would not compete in.

Mad Hawa Yakubu made these comments when she appeared on JOY FM?s Super Morning Show on Thursday to discuss a range of issues.

She said the former communications minister in the Rawlings Administration will be a better candidate to push the Northern agenda for development further should the NDC win in the year 2008.

?Now no one can erase what Aliu Mahama (the current Vice President) has done for the North so they (the NDC) cannot win in this year. But no one knows what will happen in 2008 and I think John will be the best northern candidate to achieve development for the area should he win?, she said.

She however said that will only happen if the NPP does not put its house in order before the 2008 elections.

Moving on to other topics, the former Tourism Minister said the current discord between President Kufuor and former President Rawlings could be best resolved if the former President gave more respect to the presidency.

?Jerry must do more. You cannot expect privileges if you continue to rubbish the office of the President after you occupied it for twenty years. He must give more respect to Kufuor. But my President must resolve this before he retires. It is in his interest to do that? she said.

On her role in the NPP, Mad Yakubu considered a strong woman in the NPP said she could do more to enhance the growth of the party.

She said she would want to progress further in the party and play a more leading role than she is currently doing.

?I would want to move ahead, be part of the best team in the party, build a strong caucus and I would do anything humanly possible to achieve that. I will want to be President if the opportunity presents itself?, she said.
