Gomoa East NPP elects new officers

Gomoa Ekwamkrom (C/R), Nov 24, GNA - Mr Benjamin Otoo, a tutor at the Cape Coast Polytechnic, has been elected chairman of the Gomoa East constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a delegates' conference held at Gomoa Ekwamkrom. He polled 201 to beat the incumbent Mr Augustus Mensah and Mr J.K Donkoh who had 50 and 163 votes respectively. Mr J.K Arthur polled 256 votes to beat Mr Alex Koomson for the position of 1st Vice Chairman, while Mr P.V.K. Ofosu had 241 votes to become second vice Chairman. Mr Solomon Darkoh Quarm, a tutor at the Nsaba Presbyterian Senior High School had 161 votes to defeat Mr Prince Charles Abbam, Presiding Member of Gomoa East District

Assembly who had 97 votes for the position of secretary The Assistant secretary went to Mr Justice Okyere who polled 224 votes to beat Mr

Kweku Nyarkoh with 194 votes while Mr Ishmael Martey was elected Organizer with 221 to

defeat Mr Edward Mintah. Mrs Mavis Jarkwatey got the position of Treasurer with 211 votes to beat Mr Jacob

Wilson and Mr Peter Ankomah who had 96 and 114 votes respectively. Other executives elected were Mr Joseph Acquah Youth Organizer, Ms Diana Auby

Women organizer. In his acceptance speech Mr Otoo said time had come for the youth to work hard to

ensure victory in the 2012 election. He said the NPP lost the 2008 election because there was a huge gap between the

immediate past constituency executive and the foot soldiers due to misunderstanding among

them.
