Former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Special Advisor on Policy at the Office of the Vice President, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has praised Ghana's interoperable payment system, which allows seamless payments between banks and mobile money accounts.
The unique instant payment system is renowned as the only one on the African continent, as Ghana is the only country with such instant cross-payment system between bank accounts and mobile money wallets.

Speaking on GTV Breakfast Show on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Ofosu asserted that Ghana is the only country with such a unique payment system, which he said, has significantly impacted the financial sector of the country and has also expanded financial inclusion.
"Ghana is the only African country with fully interoperable instant payment systems, a unique achievement that has fuelled mobile money adoption, expanded e-commerce and promoted financial inclusion," state broadcaster GTV, quoted Samuel Ofosu Ampofo as saying.
Meanwhile Samuel Ofosu Ampofo's candid admission has earned former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia lots of commendations from Ghanaians.

Commenting on GTV's social media post which shared Ofosu Ampofo's quote, overwhelming majority of commentators praised the former Vice President for his relentless efforts in championing modern, interoperable payment systems to advance a modern Ghanaian economy.
"The legacies of Dr Bawumia are a testament to a leader whose vision secures not only the needs of today, but the promise of tomorrow," wrote one commentator
"Those who vilified DMB will definitely admit to his vision, that's how the Lord works," another wrote.
Several others either wrote about Dr Bawumia being vindicated or celebrated his deep vision.
