FM Radio Presenter contests assembly elections

An Ark FM Radio Presenter in Sunyani, has joined the race with two others, to contest the seat for an assembly member in the Abosa electoral area in the Sunyani West District.

Mr Patrick Ankoye Frimpong, popularly known as Kwame Ankoye, on the airwaves, is contesting with Mr. Atta Konadu, the incumbent, and Mr. Edmond Boadu, an environmental and sanitation officer, in the forthcoming district assembly elections slated for March 3.

Mr Frimpong told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Odumase that his decision to contest, stemmed from the gross display of incompetency by successive assembly members in the area.

He expressed concern about the deplorable nature of roads, and lack of potable water for residents in the area, and therefore promised to lobby non-governmental organizations and philanthropists, to support in the area’s development.

Mr. Ankoye emphasized that assembly members play a very critical role in the local government process, pointing out that many communities were still under-developed, because of the incompetence of some of the assembly members.

He appealed to the electorate to vote for him on March 3, so that he can use his media advocacy skills and other experiences, to lobby for development projects for the community.
