MP gives 70 million cedis to Schools in his constituency

Lawra, July 1, GNA- Dr Ben Kumbuor, Member of Parliament (MP) for Lawra/Nandom, has made available 70 million cedis from his share of the Common Fund for the rehabilitation of some basic schools in the Lawra District.

Mr Sylvanus Ganfaa, Lawra District Chief Executive (DCE), said this at the second ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Lawra on Friday.

Mr Ganfaa said the Assembly had taken delivery of 6,000-grafted mango seedlings provided by the government for forestation programme in the district.

He said in addition to that, the assembly had nursed 15,000 teak, cashew and shea seedlings for distribution to communities that have demonstrated interest in forestation.

The seedlings would also be given to institutions and individuals.

The DCE said the assembly terminated the contract of the company working on the Kokoligu Dam last February for non-performance and that the contract would be re-awarded.
