Election 2020: CPP makes comeback through social media

The Convention People The Convention People

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has taken the bull by the horn to put its house in order for a new generation of Ghanaian voters in the upcoming December elections.

Terming it as “THE RENAISSANCE - Renewed HOPE for the Ghanaian YOUTH: The CPP Agenda”, the party is re-engaging young adults who have already lost interest in its ideologies and politics in general.

The Convention People’s Party (CPP), has in the last few decades, failed to make a significant impact on Ghana’s political terrain following the death of its founder and first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Its performance in the last two elections has been abysmal with many blaming the chairman and 2016 flagbearer, Dr. Kobina Ivor Greenstreet, for the outcome and having allegedly done the bidding of a bigger political party.

But in what seems to be a constant political engagement on Facebook lately, the party is actively mobilizing an audience to become engaged in their institution-oriented activities and political expression.

Unlike before, the party enthusiastically responds to every single comment on their posts, even insults.

Meanwhile, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) will elect its Election 2020 flagbearer in March at a National Delegates Conference slated for Kumasi.

The Central Committee (CC), which is the highest decision-making body of the Party said flagbearer Aspirants would pay GHC200,000.00 as filing fees and GHC2,000.00 for the nomination forms.
