Educate the electorate on achievements of NPP

Accra, Aug. 8, GNA - Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, Member of Parliament for Assin North, has called on activists of New Patriotic Party (NPP) to educate the electorate on the numerous achievements of the Party to win more votes.

He said most of the achievements were in the health, education, road infrastructure, transport sector and good governance. Mr Agyepong made the call when addressing members of Opera Square Friends of Nana Akufo-Addo in Accra.

He pointed out that when the Party took over the country's administration in 2001, the economy was bad.

Mr Agyepong who is also Chairman of Central Regional Campaign Team of NPP, said through good governance, NPP had reversed the trend making Ghana's economy one of the best in Sub-Sahara Africa.

He noted that the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) had created employment for about 114,000 youth, while others were waiting to be employed and denied allegations that employees under NYEP had no future because they were not contributing to social security. Mr Agyepong said under the National Tree Planting Programme about 43,000 people had been employed and this had improved their living standards.

He cautioned supporters of NPP against allowing the NDC to be voted into power because they would entrench themselves and not allow any other political party to rule the country.

"We should intensify the education on achievements of NPP and campaign to win more sympathisers to vote for the Party to be retained in power, "he added.

Mr Agyepong noted that due to sound and stable economy under the NPP Government, many foreign investors were investing in the economy and the deal with management of Vodafone for the sale of 70 per cent shares of Ghana Telecom was ideal because it would help inject more capital into the company to compete in global telecommunication. He predicted that the NPP would win all the 19 Parliamentary seats in the Central Region including Mfantseman East.

Mr Samuel Adu-Amoyaw, Chairman of Opera Square Friends of Nana Akufo-Addo, pledged their determination to wrestle the Odododiodio Constituency seat from the NDC and appealed for more logistics to achieve their objective.
