Eastern Regional CPP holds elections

Koforidua, Dec. 05, GNA - Mr S.O. Mpare polled 154 votes to defeat Nana Owusu Sekyere, former Eastern Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP) who obtained 73 votes, to become the new regional chairman at the party's Regional Congress held in Koforidua on Wednesday.

The post of first Vice-Chairman went to Mr Joseph Teye Djangma who polled 104 votes as against Mr Isaac Opare Addo who had 98 votes. Mr Sam Kwakye obtained 150 votes to defeat Mr Addo Preko who had 98 votes to become the second vice-chairman.

Mr Gyimah Aikins obtained 93 votes to defeat Mr Kwabena Appiah, former regional secretary who had 81 votes to become the new regional secretary, with Mr Quarcoo Zah obtaining 76 votes. The post of treasurer went to Mr F.K. Ofei Odame who polled 180 votes to defeat Mr A.K. Ackumey who had 69 votes; Mr David Tekper had 119 votes to become organizer to defeat Mr A.L. Sackitey and Aziz Addo who had 67 and 54 votes respectively. Mr Kwao Kwabena had 145 votes to become youth organizer; Mr Patrick Adjei had 48 votes and Mr Castro Daniel Awudzi obtaining 38 votes. Mr Kofi Henaku polled 121 votes to become education secretary; Miss Alice Boateng and Mr Welbeck Addo Darko had 35 and 30 votes respectively.

Miss Olivia Addo polled 109 votes to become the women's organizer; Miss Evelyn Owusu Kwakye had 89 votes and Miss Christiana Mills obtained 50 votes.

Dr Edward Delle, National Chairman of the CPP, congratulated the delegates on the mature manner they went about the elections and said the party would win next year's elections hands down. 05 Dec. 07
