The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially launched the Patriotic Institute, a party training school aimed at deepening ideological education and leadership grooming among its ranks.

The initiative, unveiled at the party’s headquarters in Accra, is positioned as a major step toward building a more disciplined, informed, and strategically aligned political force.

What Is the Patriotic Institute?

The Patriotic Institute is a capacity-building centre established by the NPP to train and mentor party members across all levels.

It is part of the party’s broader effort to preserve its ideological foundations, promote effective leadership, and strengthen grassroots mobilisation.

Two categories of programmes

The Institute will run two types of programmes:

1. Mandatory Foundational Programmes. These are compulsory for all elected and appointed executives from national to polling station levels.
• Presidential and parliamentary aspirants, regional and constituency officers, as well as party communicators, must also participate.
• Certificates of completion will form part of the qualification criteria for leadership roles and party appointments.

These foundational lectures are scheduled to begin in August 2025.

2. Specialised Programmes

• These are designed to meet specific, evolving needs of the party at different times.

How the training will be delivered

The Institute will offer flexible and interactive training options, including:
• In-person workshops, retreats, and regional sessions
• Online courses and mobile learning platforms
• Mentorship and leadership exchange programmes
• Group discussions

To decentralise access, regional training centres will be established, with sessions running concurrently nationwide using a standardised curriculum.

Facilitators and experts

The Institute will rely on a diverse pool of experienced professionals such as:
• Former MPs, ministers, and deputy ministers
• Past party executives and government appointees
• Experts from academia, civil society, NGOs, and international organisations

A dedicated website has been created to provide detailed information about the Institute’s programmes and enrollment processes.
