About 90,000 to vote in district elections in Obuasi

Obuasi (Ash), Sept 21, GNA - About 90,651 eligible voters are expected to cast their votes in the 30 electoral areas in the Obuasi municipality during the forthcoming district level elections.

The Kunka electoral area is expected to have the highest turn out of 8,084 eligible voters whilst the least of 1,180 voters are expected to vote in the Wawase Junior Staff area.

Mr Francis Addai-Boateng, Obuasi Municipal Electoral Officer, told the Ghana News Agency at Obuasi that preparations toward the elections were on course and that training of all the personnel involved in the exercise had been completed.

He said his office had taken delivery of ballot papers and that all the necessary materials needed for the elections had been provided. The Municipal Electoral Officer said as a result of the postponement of the election from September 12 to 26, the public interest waned, but his office would collaborate with the assembly to sensitise the electorate turn out massively.
