Desperate actions they say calls for desperate reactions. The outbreak of the deadly COVID 19 is hitting hard on many economies across the world. The number of confirmed cases in Ghana has created fear and panic among Ghanaians and has sent shivers down the spine of many.

This has reignited the spirit of sacrifice and volunteerism among Ghanaians as some people are contributing in their small way to help mitigate the spread of the virus.

One of such personality is Mr. John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wagon constituency.

Mr. Dumelo also called on all citizens to support the government's efforts to fight COVID19.

He made the call when he presented some sanitary items to five (5) police stations in the constituency. These items include Veronica buckets, hand sanitizer, detergents, hand gloves among others.

According to the parliamentary candidate, the gesture is to help the police officers stay protected against the coronavirus since they come in contact with people every day.

“We need to protect those protect us” he stressed.

On 16th March 2020, the Dumelo Foundation also distributed about six thousand (6,000) free hand sanitizers to residents across the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

Among the recipients were the students of the University of Ghana, Ghana Institute of management and public administration (GIMPA). "It is extremely important for citizens to play their part and support the government's efforts in the fight against the deadly COVID19," he added.

Finally, the parliamentary candidate advised all and sundry to observe personal hygiene by washing hands as regularly as possible with soap under running water, drink a lot of fluids and water and also use the hand sanitizer.

“Do not hesitate to report to the nearest health facility if you suspect any of the symptoms or call the emergency numbers provided by the ministry of health”, he emphasized.
