Don't let your emotions influence your vote - PM

Ho, Oct. 24, GNA - Ghana's search for a good governance platform requires well-informed and critical minded citizenry whose political choices in elections are without prejudices, the Presiding Member for the Ho Municipal Assembly has said. Mr Leonard Kokorokoh, the Presiding Member, expressed this view at a forum on good governance and human rights, organised for Community-Based Civil Society Organizations (CB-CSO) in the Volta Region in Ho on Tuesday.

He said frivolous political choices at elections based on sentiments cannot help achieve good governance. "In politics you listen to all parties and make your decisions, this is the governance we are craving for," he said. Mr Kokorokoh described as unfortunate the situation where people are easily swayed by ethnic and parochial considerations, including small gifts and money to give their votes to people. He was however hopeful that "one day we will vote for people who are capable candidates not because they are our kith and kin". Mr Kokorokoh said the vote of Community Based Civil Society Organization members were crucial in educating the citizenry to appreciate the value of elections and the need to make informed choices. 24 Oct. 08
