Don't be influenced with money, delegates told

Sunyani, Oct. 24, GNA- Mr Mustapha Abdul Hamid, spokesperson of the campaign team of Nana Akufo-Addo, has urged NPP delegates not to be influenced with money, but rather, vote for a marketable candidate who is capable of winning.

He said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would find it very tough to retain the Presidency if Nana Akufo-Addo is not given the nod as its flagbearer in the 2008 general election. Mr Hamid said this when he interacted with the media in Sunyani on Wednesday.

He noted that Nana Akufo-Addo, who is aspiring to become the flagbearer of the NPP, had been at the forefront and also a true son of the party since 1976, and recalled that the launching of the party was held at Ring Way Hotel owned by the aspirant to signify his commitment". It is important for the delegates to elect a candidate who has contributed immensely to the growth of the party, particularly when in opposition, the spokesperson added.

Mr. Hamid said the campaign team had targeted delegates at the grass roots level "who need to be supported and encouraged to enable them to work hard towards a resounding victory in 2008. The spokesperson said Nana Akufo-Addo had expressed his commitment to rally solidly behind the winning candidate at the congress but quickly added: "If NPP wants to win the 2008 presidential race easily, then Nana Akufo-Addo is the best candidate".
