Delta, Invincible Forces dented president’s 100 days mark- Lawyer Ampaw

Controversial Lawyer Maurice Ampaw believes the conduct of Pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante groups, Delta Force and Invincible Forces have taken the shine out of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s 100 days in office.

He believes the president stood a greater chance of scoring 90 percent but for the conduct of these groups which has become a topical issue and a security concern to the citizenry.

According to him, he personally sympathizes with the president that members of his own party in the name of associations like Delta and Invincible Forces have conducted themselves in that manner that has cast a slur on his reputation and achievements.

The self-acclaimed celebrity lawyer said he is disgusted by the attack on a Kumasi Circuit Court by members of the Delta Force noting that it has made the president lose the goodwill of the citizenry who voted for him.

“I feel pity for Nana Addo. The actions of Delta Force have really marred Nana Addo’s 100 days administration. Even NDC in opposition is not troubling Nana Addo but his own party members; NPP is always giving him pressure and are not even considering his age.

“Nana Addo would have scored 90 percent without the Delta Force and that’s why I feel pity for him” he said on Accra-based Okay fm.

He stressed  that the country has come of age in her democratic dispensation, and appealed to all and sundry to co-exist peacefully in the years ahead, in the spirit of national reconciliation rubbishing calls for the National Security Minister, Kan Daapah, to  be dismissed over the Delta Force members’ action.

The suspects who were linked to attack on the Regional Security Coordinator Mr. George Adjei were arraigned before the court on various charges ranging from conspiracy to assault and assaulting a public officer and causing to unlawful damage

Shortly after the case was called and their pleas taken, the trial Judge, Mary Senkyire demanded they should be remanded in prison custody until the next adjourned date which is 20th of April, 2017.

Her pronouncement drew uproar in the courtroom and before she could move back into her chamber, more members of the group were called in by some of their colleagues and started destroying property of the court freeing the accused persons in the process.

In the ensuing melee, the judge who was almost assaulted by the group managed to flee and run into safety before she could be pounced on coupled with the arrival of a police reinforcement team saving the situation.

It would be recalled that some members of the Delta Force on March 24, 2017 stormed the Ashanti regional coordinating council and forcefully demanded the removal of the regional security coordinator.

George Adjei was appointed by the President for the post but according but the groups claim they cannot work with him because he is not from the region.

They broke into Adjei’s office manhandled him and asked him to leave the premises.

It took the timely intervention of the Police to rescue Adjei who was whisked to the Central Police station for protection.
