Muslim Youth Urged to Ensure Peace

The Yendi constituency youth leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mallam Ziblim Sogyeldow, has called on Muslim youths to educate religious bodies in their communities on the need to live in peace with one another. Mallam Sogyeldow made the call when he addressed members of the NPP youth wing at Yendi on Saturday. He commended the members for their massive turnout and urged them to remain united and committed to the party. The constituency women's organiser, Madam Salamatu Nabogu, said the poverty alleviation fund is meant for all Ghanaians and not only NDC supporters. Madam Nabogu also described the amount given to applicants as too meagre, saying the 100,000 cedis given to people to start business was inadequate under the present economic conditions. The constituency vice-chairman, Mr Abdul-Rahman Yakubu, drew attention to the rapid decline in the agricultural sector and said this was due to bad policies which not motivate farmers to produce more. He said Ghana's economy can only change for the better if NPP comes to power, and urged Ghanaians to vote for the party in the 2000 elections.
