Salif Keita Appoints QCD As Agent

Salif Keita, Africa's most celebrated music artist, has appointed QCD Productions, a music company based in Accra, as his local agent with the exclusive right to promote, distribute and market his musical works, including catalogues, CDs and concerts in Ghana. This follows two successful live concerts held in Accra recently organized by QCD Productions.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Accra between QCD Productions and Wonder Records, the singer's own record company based in Paris. Similar agreements have also been signed with selected music companies in Nigeria, Cameroun, Benin, Togo, and The Gambia. The singer who is from Mali would by the agreement hold two live concerts every year in each country with one for free.

Salif Kieta, has also launched a project, known as the "Mofou Project" to discover and assist young musical talents all over the world, especially in Africa, to develop their career by acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to produce good quality music. This is done through seminars and practical music lessons for the musicians based in the countries that he visits. To this end, a one-day seminar, attended by musicians, composers and producers was organized in Accra after Salif Keita's concerts.

Mr. "Quantos" Ackah-Yensu, CEO of QCD Productions, said the seminar was organized to enable the talented musician exchange ideas on the various aspects of music making with the objective of helping to enhance creativity and performing skills in the country's music industry. He also expressed happiness about the collaboration between his company and Wonder Records and promised to use the opportunity to bring the best in music for the people living in Ghana.

Salif Keita, said he agreed to sign the contract with QCD as a result of the "tremendous success" of his first two concerts in Ghana. He explained that he was particularly impressed with the level of professionalism exhibited by the organizers in the promotional and the technical aspects of the events. He therefore expressed his gratitude to the organizers and all the people who attended the concerts and promised to return soon.
