Code of Ethics by GNP

The greatest impediment to Ghana’s development and management of our national resources despite the massive loans and aid, as well as high taxes, is the endemic corruption and lack of disciple in enforcing laws and regulations, starting from within the parties that are used as platforms to seek the votes of the people to run our nations.

Ghana National Party offers our Code of Ethics to the Public as agreed upon by the founding executives last September 2006, and hope that other political parties will meet the challenge so we can all demonstrate to the world that we have the capability to manage our affairs.

CODE OF ETHICS Of the GHANA NATIONAL PARTY [GNP]

To maintain a distinctive difference between the Ghana National Party and other political parties that have tainted the image of politics as a PUBLIC SERVICE in Ghana, all members and officials elected on the party platform must agree and abide by the following ethical code of conduct and sign a Pledge to this effect.

1. All executives, officers and members of the party must pledge to this code of ethical conduct as well as the party constitution in the service of their nation.

2. All executives, leaders and officers of the party must agree to submit their Resume/CV, and declare their assets and liabilities to the central executive, and any public institution as and if required under law.

3. All public officers elected on the platform of the party pledge to abstain from acts of unethical conduct such as petty crimes, bribery, corruption, and personal acts of social immorality considered distasteful in the society but often overlooked.

4. All public officers elected on the party platform pledge that in the unfortunate circumstances of any allegations of impropriety against them that are likely to bring a negative image to the party and the nation, they will cooperate and agree to a full independent investigation of the case including a review of personal assets and finances and inquiry by an independent auditing company. When convicted they will resign, forfeit any benefits and privileges, and subject themselves to the laws of Ghana.

5. All members and officials entrusted with moneys on behalf of the party or of others in society will maintain accurate and authentic receipts and bookkeeping, and open their books for auditing periodically as required, and when their term of office terminates; they also agree to pay all loans provided by the State as agreed.

6. All members and officials of the party will work hard to use their skills to analyze the problems of Ghana to serve the people, and to find and implement solutions to them to the best of their knowledge without self gain.

7. All officials elected on the party platform will set up a system to receive feedback from their constituents and to ensure that the problems of the people are catered to expeditiously.

8. All members, officials or elected national office holders of the party promise to help educate their fellow citizens of their civic responsibilities, patriotic duties and national identity as proud citizens of Ghana.

Pledge Of Membership:

I Pledge to Be Sincere and Faithful To My Country Ghana, In The Fight for Justice for All Ghanaians, And against Bribery, Corruption, Greed, Selfishness, Nepotism and Tribalism, the major Social Evils of My Country Ghana;

And I Will Do All In My Power to abhor these evils and discourage others against them, as We Unite To Build A New Ghana.

I am Dedicated to Be an Advocate for The Honest Hardworking Ghanaian, And for Our Children, and Generations to Come, So Help Me God. (Public Pledge read at the July 1, 2006 Party Announcement by Chairman Ofori Ampofo).
