Club appeals to Nana Konadu to rescind decision

Accra, July 5, GNA - The National Executive Committee of Soyeaya Club of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Tuesday, made a passionate appeal to Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, to rescind her decision to contest President John Evans Atta Mills.

A statement jointly signed by Alhaji Chief Adamu, National Chairman and Alhaji Chief H.M.M. Sannie, General Secretary in Accra said, 93We appeal to Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings to step down and allow President John Evans Atta Mills to go unopposed, as the NDC Flagbearer, in the supreme interest of the NDC."

It also appealed to the campaign teams of the two aspirants to exercise restraint with their utterances and actions, to ensure that sanity prevailed in the period before, during and after the congress to elect a flagbearer, scheduled for Sunyani on July 8-10.

"We remind members of the Club, who are delegates, to vote as directed by the National Executive Committee, while all members of the NDC should regard themselves as brothers and sisters belonging to one family," it added.

The Club also appealed to the security agencies to deal drastically with anyone who would try to foment trouble during the congress without fear or favour.
