CPP must join hands with PNC to win power - Atutiga

Tamale, Oct. 04, GNA - Mr. Albert Atutiga, Northern Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), has reiterated calls on members to stop blaming the party leadership and join hands with other Nkrumaist parties to ensure victory in "Election 2008".

He said the party should heed the calls to merge with other Nkrumaist parties, and if we failed to do this, the party would continue to remain at the bottom at the end of every general election. The Regional Chairman, who was speaking to the GNA in an interview in Tamale on Wednesday, said some members of the CPP including the executive, were likely to resign from the party if it failed to merge with the PNC before the electioneering campaign for the 2008 elections kicked off.

"After all, we have a lot of former CPP members in all the other political parties and what we need is for us to map out strategies to bring them back into our fold," he said.

Mr. Atutiga said the most crucial issue confronting members of the party was how to unite with other Nkrumaist parties based on compromises over symbols, slogan and anything that would ensure victory and good governance to Ghanaians.

He appealed to all sympathisers of the party to remain committed and help in the fight to unseat the ruling NPP in the 2008 general election.
