CPP leadership accused of incompetence

Kumasi, May 30, GNA - Members of the Ashanti regional branch of the Convention People's Party (CPP) have demanded the immediate convening of a national congress to decide the faith of Dr Edmund Delle, the party's leader and chairman.

The members' decision was due to what they described as incompetence on the part of the party's general leadership, which they alleged had led to the break down of the party's structures at the regional and grass-root levels.

They stated that the situation had accounted for the party's abysmal performance in elections over the years.

Members of the party made the call in a press statement issued and signed by Mr Can Sekyi, Secretary of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of CPP in Kumasi on Tuesday.

"It is palpable clear that Dr Delle and his team are inept, self-serving and all talk but no action, we do hereby resolve that he initiates an emergency leadership congress so that the leadership of our beloved party can be decided", the release said.

The release noted that Dr Delle and his team have failed to visit constituencies in the regions to help re-build the party's structures, secure offices as well as help provide vehicles to step up party's activities.

It indicated that the lack of offices and other logistics had made it impossible for constituencies officers to meet and discuss the way forward for the party.
