CPP government will build a welfare state - Prof. Delle

Professor Edmond Nminyem Delle, Chairman of the Disciplinary committee of the Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP), has appealed to Ghanaians to vote the party into power to enable it to build a welfare state in which Ghanaians irrespective of tribe, religion or social status would co-exist peacefully.

“We shall aim at a society where we live in peace, where food is abundant, where we work, not that we pretend to work but we genuinely love working because no nation can develop, and no nation has ever succeeded, by being dependent on other nations for its success”, he added.

He said a CPP government would seek the welfare of the worker by removing hurdles that impeded his or her promotion, non-payment or delay in paying compensations and will focus on agricultural development and promoting entrepreneurship as well as give every individual the opportunity to develop through education.

Speaking on the “Focus of CPP Government” in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Prof Delle who is also a senior member of the party's Council of Elders, said the CPP believed in self-reliance since Ghanaians are confident that they are capable of managing their own affairs.

He said the party would educate Ghanaians to “think Ghana First, serve the nation, make sacrifices so that Ghana would once again be the shinning star of Africa”.

Prof. Delle said the CPP was not elitist but that it embraced all, including fishermen, farmers, the market women and workers; adding that all should join the party, including those who had left it, to assist in building a strong and virile party to work towards economic independence.**
