The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has pegged its Election 2016 Flag bearership filling fee at GH¢150,000.00 as the party opens nomination from December 28 to January 11, 2016.

Nomination forms might be purchased for GH¢5,000.00 from the office of the General Secretary at the National Secretariat, CPP Headquarters, Asylum Down, in Accra.

The party’s Central Committee at its December 21 meeting also agreed to fix January 28 and January 29 for the party’s National Delegates Congress to elect the Presidential Candidate at the Trade Fair Centre.

Some Central Committee members told the Ghana News Agency that the party would be holding all presidential aspirants to a strict set of standards.

The party leadership dismissed assertions that the filing fees was too expensive and explained that the party had to raise enough funds to run the affairs of the party and campaign in the 2016 elections.

In Election 2012, CPP Flag bearers paid a filling fee of GH¢ 20,000.00 and GH? 500.00 for the nomination forms.

The National Democratic Congress in August this year pegged its flag bearer nomination fees at GH¢50,000.00; whilst the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) approved a fee of GH?10,000.00 to pick a Presidential nomination form and GH?30,000.00 as the filling fee.

The New Patriotic Party in June 2014 sold out flag bearer ship nomination forms at GH¢10, 000 and filing fee was pegged at GH¢ 75,000.

Meanwhile five leading CPP members have declared their intention to contest for the flag bearer ship slot.

They are: Mr Joseph Agyapong, Mr Bright Akwetey, Dr Michael Abu Sakara Foster, Ms Christiana Yaba Samia Nkrumah, and Dr Onzy Nathan Nkrumah.
