CPP elects its parliamentary candidate for New Edubiase

New Edubiase (Ash), Aug. 23, GNA - Mr. Joshua Appiah, a 58-year-old educationist was on Friday elected the Convention People's Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate for New Edubiase at its constituency delegates' congress held at New Edubiase in the Adansi South District. He was the only person who filed his nomination papers and was therefore by popular acclamation declared the winner by the Electoral Commission (EC). Speaking at the congress, Mr S.K. Danso, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Party, cautioned the party's parliamentary candidates to be wary of political parties who would influence them with money to withdraw from the elections at the last minute at the expense of the party's interestas some happened in the last elections.

He said the CPP was not a defeated party and will cause surprises in the elections, saying, "we will surely be the kingmakers as we have targeted 30 per cent of the total December elections votes cast to disorganize the NPP and NDC who will then come to seek our alliance". Mr Danso called on the supporters to campaign vigorously, especially in the rural areas to enable the CPP under the leadership of 'Vision Man', Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom become the next President of Ghana. He said under the government of CPP, revamping of all industries created by the late Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah like the Jute, Shoe, Meat and Bonsa Tyre factories will be top priorities among others to create more job opportunities for the unemployed youth. He announced that a vehicle has been allocated to four constituencies in the Adansi South to enhance their campaigns while motorbikes and bicycles will soon be added to enable the campaign team to reach the remote areas.

Mr. Kwabena Appiagyei, the Regional Organiser of the Party, advised polling agents to be more vigilant during the elections so as not to give other parties the chance to rig. Mr Appiah thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and gave the assurance that come December elections, the New Edubiase seat will be for the CPP. He said it was only the CPP that had the key of change that Ghanaians would feel in their pockets. 23 Aug. 08
