CPP defeated parliamentary candidate congratulates President Mills

Kumasi, Jan. 8, GNA - Mr Kwame Appiah Boateng, the defeated Convention Peoples Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate for the Nhyiaeso Constituency in Kumasi, has congratulated Professor John Evans Atta Mills on his election as the third president of the fourth Republic. He said Professor Mills' victory confirmed his resilient and upright fortitude to serve the people of Ghana.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Mr Boateng reminded President Mills of the promises he made and said with a right team of government in place, he believed the NDC would deliver. He appealed to President Mills to critically examine the background of those he would appoint as ministers so as to ensure that right people with requisite expertise were put in place.

Mr Boateng also congratulated Ghanaians for the peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves during and after the elections. He also commended Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for accepting defeat which portrayed his desire to promote multi-party democracy in the country. Mr Boateng called on the members of the CPP to learn from the outcome of the elections and make the necessary amendments so as to position the party to make significant impact in the country's politics.
