CPP cannot succeed without unity of Nkrumaists

Kumasi, May 26, GNA- A leading member of the Convention People's Party (CPP) on Tuesday warned that it would be practically impossible for the party to come back to power without unity amongst Nkrumaists. Mr. Samuel K. Danso, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, said "whoever thinks the CPP could be strong and formidable enough to wrest power devoid of close collaboration amongst adherents of the Nkrumaist ideologies is making a big mistake".

This was contained in a statement signed by the Regional Chairman and issued in Kumasi.

The statement appealed to leaders of the Nkrumaist parties to put aside their differences and revisit a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the various parties towards the proposed unification of the parties with Nkrumaist ideologies.

"For now our family seems to be divided along ideological and selfish lines which has affected the support base even though we all proclaim Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as our father", it said. The statement noted that those pertinent issues bothering on symbol, party colours, constitution and who becomes the flag bearer in the event of all the parties merging should be addressed promptly to strengthen the party.
