CPP Nominations

TO : MEDIAFROM : CPP (General Secretary)

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) wishes to thank all our delegates once again for the way and manner they conducted themselves leading up to and during our National Congress held on 9 and 10 September of this year. We wish to appeal to all members to continue in the same vein to support the National Leadership to implement the new vision for the Party.

It has been about a month since Congress and approximately two weeks since the handover to the newly-elected leaders. Since then we have continued with our efforts to raise the visibility of our Party and reconnect with our base. We are now ready to roll out our new organizational blueprint and launch new initiatives geared towards realizing our new agenda of revitalizing the CPP and bringing hope to our country.

We take this opportunity to remind members that with regard to the impending 2012 parliamentary and presidential elections, the CPP is yet to open nominations for the candidates.

Instead, more importantly, we have embarked upon a process to renew our structures including polling stations, address a number of legal disputes, and complete three outstanding regional elections before we can go to Congress to elect our 2012 Presidential Candidate.

We confirm that when nominations are opened there will be a vetting process that will take into account our usual criteria of Party discipline, dedication, and commitment.

Members are reminded of their obligation to follow constitutionally laid down procedures for addressing grievances and disputes against the Party and its officers acting in their official capacity before resorting to court action. Any member resorting to legal action before first having exhausted the constitutional processes will be sanctioned accordingly.

Discussions are far advanced on the finalization of all appointments and the empanelling of a full Central Committee by the end of the week.

We want to reassure members that we remain committed to fulfilling our pledge of making our Party an electable and viable alternative in Ghana.
