Some delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asante Akyem area have thrown their support behind the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, as the party’s potential flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

According to a report by adomonline.com on October 5, 2025, the delegates described Acheampong as a unifier capable of strengthening the NPP and restoring internal cohesion.

They commended the former Minister for Food and Agriculture for his calm demeanor, inclusive leadership style, and ability to engage constructively with individuals who hold differing opinions.

“His leadership qualities and proven track record make him the ideal candidate to unite the NPP and to restore internal cohesion within the party,” the report said.

Deputy Youth Organizer for Asante Akyem South, Charles Wiafe Kwabena, also described Acheampong as ‘a presidential candidate that can be trusted’ to lead the party with integrity and vision.

He said Acheampong has consistently demonstrated commitment to the NPP’s ideals and the welfare of its members.

The endorsement comes amid growing internal discussions within the NPP over who should succeed Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
