Boniface gains more support for NPP running mate slot

Accra, June 04, GNA - The promotion of Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Siddique, Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, to partner the ruling New Patriotic Party's flag bearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a running mate for Election 2008 on Wednesday received the endorsement of a former student activist of the party.

The former TESCON Vice President of the University of Development Studies (UDS), Nyanpkala Campus, Mr Joseph Kawdwo Danquah said the credentials an NPP running mate should include track record of performance and commitment to the ideals of the Danquah/Busiah tradition, and Alhaji Boniface has met these standards. In a statement to the media titled: "Boniface Abubakar Siddique: The Perfect Match for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo," he appealed to the party leadership to consider the contribution of Alhaji Boniface, including his national appeal and ability to attract votes across the political divide.

He described Alhaji Siddique, who is the Member of Parliament for Salaga, as royal of Gonjaland ."his father is half Scottish and the grandmother an Nkonya in the Brong Ahafo Region and this makes him a man who cut across ethnicity".

Mr Danquah, said the partnership between Nana Akufo-Addo and Alhaji Boniface would form a dream winnable team for the NPP in Election 2008.
