Biometric voter registration exercise takes off smoothly in New Juaben

The Biometric Voter’s Registration exercise has taken off smoothly in New Juaben Municipality with only a few hitches.

At the Anglo Town South registration centre, as at 09.37 hours, 24 people had been registered and there were 12 people in the queue waiting to be registered.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the Registration Officer for the centre, Mr Lawrence Quto Agbonu, said the exercise started at the centre at 07.10 hours because of relocation of the centre.

Present there were agents of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) and they all expressed satisfaction with the process so far.

At Zongo Clinic registration centre, as at 09.40 hours, 30 people had been registered with about 36 people of different ages waiting in queue to be registered.

The Registration Officer (RO1), Mr Ahoba Frank, was taking care of the processing of the forms for the aged whiles RO2 was taking care of the younger people.

Mr Ahoba said as at the time of the GNA visited the centre, everything had been smooth and peaceful.

The area which is considered as one of the hot spots in the municipality, had three NDC party agents and two NPP party agents at post.

All the agents had expressed satisfaction with the exercise.

Commenting on the exercise so far, the Municipal Electoral Officer, Ms Lydia Agyiri, said the exercise had been smooth with all the equipment for the registration exercise working satisfactorily.

The New Juaben Municipal area has 40 registration centres.**
