Bekwai NPP expels eight from the Party

Bekwai (Ash.) Nov. 11, GNA - The Bekwai Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed eight Polling Station Chairmen from the Party for supporting and campaigning for an Independent Parliamentary Candidate, Madam Beatrice Kusi-Appiah.

The dismissed members are Nana Obenefo (Anwiankwanta), John Asiama (Pampaso Anglican Primary), Yaw Fosu (Biribiwomanmu), George Busumuru (Bekwai R/C Middle), Kwabena Ampratwum (Bekwai SDA Secondary School), Kwabena Addo (Bogyawe JSS), Boakye Appiah (Bekwai R/C Primary) and Justice Amoah Owusu (Asebu).

This was contained in a press statement signed jointly by Mr Atta Kwasi Senior, the Constituency Chairman and Mr Yaw Bio, the Assistant Constituency Secretary at Bekwai and issued on Wednesday. The statement said the Party was forced to take that drastic line of action because attempts at prevailing on them to stop backing Madam Kusi-Appiah had been unsuccessful.

"We want to assure all that we will never shy away from enforcing discipline in our Constituency of the Party."

The statement also warned Madam Kusi-Appiah from associating the name of President John Agyekum Kufuor and the NPP with her political campaign, adding that neither the President nor the NPP had anything to do with her.

"You (Madam Kusi-Appiah) are not and have never been a member of the NPP," the statement said and asked the Party's supporters in the area to ignore her and vote massively to retain the NPP's Candidate, Mr Kofi Poku Adusei.
