Baako supports Kwabena Agyepong for NPP General Secretary

Kwabena Agyepong, Former Press Secretary to Ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor has launched his campaign to unseat incumbent General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John.

He described himself as a time tested and inter-generational leader in the NPP who can unite the party to win the 2016 elections.

Sir John has also made his intentions of campaigning vigorously to retain his position as the chief scribe of the largest opposition political party in the country clear.

According to him, he had performed his duties as the NPP General Secretary perfectly, therefore he would not have any problem winning and retaining his position.

These two aspirants are sure to make the contest keener and hotter; one to retain and the other to unseat.

Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, speaking to the issue has chosen Kwabena Agyepong over Sir John.

“If I am asked to do advocacy for the two, my advocacy won’t go in the direction of the incumbent,” he said on Peace FM ‘Kokrokoo’ programme.

To him, considering the contest ahead in 2016 (between the NPP and NDC), the NPP needs a more dynamic Chief Scribe, and though Sir John might have a solid base with the grassroots of the party, he believes Kwabena Agyepong can do a better job.

But Dr. Omane Boamah, Minister of Communication differs.

Speaking on the same platform, he said if the NPP are to go to congress ‘today’, Sir John will be victorious.

“If the NPP are to vote today 23rd December, Sir John will win. There is no way he will lose,” he indicated.
