Awutu-Senya East zonal councils inaugurated

Dr Nuhu Adams, Awutu-Senya East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has called on zonal council members to ensure that they help to better the lot of the citizenry.

He said this at separate ceremonies when he officially inaugurated various zonal councils in the Municipality.

Dr Adams said the Municipal Assembly cannot function effectively without a reliable sub-structure, hence the need for zonal council members to work effectively and efficiently towards the implementation of the local Governance and Decentralization system policies at the grassroots level.

The MCE urged members to appraise themselves with the legal and regulatory framework governing local governments to enable them execute their duties accurately.

He said as part of their functions, members of the council are to enumerate, keep records of all ratable persons and properties, assist persons authorized by the municipal assembly to collect revenues due the assembly and to report to the assembly all unauthorized developmental projects being executed in their localities for further action.

As you are the torch bearers of social, economic and political change, you are to communicate clearly and effectively the policies/ programmes of government, he said.

As front-liners you should put aside your political, ethnic and personal sentiments to play your roles to serve the people in accordance with the laid down rules that established the sub-structures, he said.
