Australian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy visits Ghana

The Australian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy, Ms Joanna Hewitt, is making her first official visit to Ghana this week to strengthen bilateral relations.

While in Accra, Ms Hewitt will meet senior members in government to discuss issues of mutual interest and areas of future cooperation.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Australian High Commission in Accra on Tuesday.

“It is a great pleasure to be in Ghana on this special mission on behalf of the Australian Prime Minister,” Ms Hewitt said. “I am delighted about the strength of the relationship between Australia and Ghana and look forward to productive discussions about how to expand this further.”

Australia is committed to deepening her engagement with Ghana across the full spectrum of issues including enhanced trade and commercial activity, strengthened diplomatic links and increased development assistance.

The statement said Australia was privileged to host Vice President John Dramani Mahama as Head of Ghana’s delegation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth last October. **
