Assin North CPP elects parliamentary candidate

Assin Foso (C/R) October10, GNA - The Assin North constituency branch of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has elected Mr Kwabena Affum as its parliamentary candidate for the 2004 General Election. Mr. Affum, a 50-year old businessman, was elected unopposed at the Party's delegates conference organised at Assin Foso on Saturday. The delegates and party supporters defied a downpour and marched through the principal streets of the town with brass band music to celebrate Mr Affum's victory.

Mr. Kwaku Osei Tano, the Central Regional Organiser of the Party, said the CPP was committed to winning this year election with many parliamentary seats and appealed to party members to work hard towards the objective.

He also advised party supporters to avoid violence, acrimony and animosity during the during electioneering campaign and the polls. Mr Affum thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and urged them to work hard to ensure that the CPP won the elections. The candidate said he would always welcome advice that would move the CPP forward and requested members to unite to make the Nkrumahist Party the greatest in the country.
