Aspiring Assembly woman appeals for massive vote

Akumsa Domase (B/A) Sept.1, GNA - Miss Monica Fremah, Aspiring assembly woman for Akumsa Domase in the Nkoranza district of Brong-Ahafo region has called on the electorates to vote massively for her in the upcoming district assembly elections to enable her to serve the communities relentlessly.

Miss Fremah told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akumsa Domase that since the inception of the district assembly concept in 1998, only men from the community have won seats to the assembly hence her desire to contest and open the way for women to represent the people. She said her studies had revealed that men do not know much about the challenges that face women in the communities and as a result the assemblies do not properly address women's problems. The aspiring assembly member said if she should win power she would always share views with the opinion leaders of the community and listen to the problems that faced her colleague women for the assembly to address.

Miss Fremah therefore, called on the people to approve of her mandate and vote for her. She announced her plans to liase with some Non-Governmental Organisations to receive support for the youth to undertake income generating ventures such as batik, tie and dye printing, soap making, pomade processing, snail and mushroom farming to enhance their lot. She expressed regret about the lack of places of convenience for the southern part of the area and said if she becomes assemblywoman she would plead with the assembly to provide such facilities for the area. Miss Fremah reminded the people that what man can do a woman can equally do the same and that the electorate should this time offer the assembly's seat in the area to a woman and she would perform to their expectation. She cited as examples the important roles being played by some women in the region and said he has also got the capabilities to do some.

Miss Fremah mentioned names such as Mrs. Akua Debrah, regional director of education, Madam Ibrahim Bintu Farizana, Wenchi District Chief Executive (DCE) as well as Madam Elizabeth Oba, Jaman North DCE and Madam Cynthia Titriku-Danso Sene DCE and said they were outstanding women role models in the region.
