Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman still at post - Antoh

Kumasi, Sept 26, GNA - Mr Fredrick Fredua Antoh, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Monday said, he "is still the constitutionally elected Chairman of the Party in the Region."

In a statement issued in Kumasi in reaction to media reports that some Constituency Chairmen in the Region had passed a vote of no confidence in him, Mr Antoh urged all loyal Party members and sympathizers to ignore the reports and treat them with the contempt that they deserved.

He said the reports attributed to Nana Adu Asabere, Asante-Akim North Constituency Chairman of the Party, "had no constitutional basis and should not be entertained by any member of the Party".

Mr Antoh said steps were being taken to summon Nana Asabere and his group, who were trying to foment trouble within the Party, to appear before the Regional Disciplinary Committee for indulging in acts to bring the name of the Party into disrepute.

He appealed to all loyal members of the Party to remain calm and perform their activities peacefully.
