A section of the public has made calls for the heads of a number of appointees of President John Dramani Mahama, just a few months into his government.

The government has been coming under intense scrutiny due to the actions of these appointees, either in the line of duty, or from personal engagements.

These appointees have either made utterances and/or taken actions that were deemed unconscionable by critics, who have called for the president to take action against them, including calls for them to be fired.

While none of these people have been axed from their roles, here is a list of these appointees and the actions they undertook, and for which reason they were deemed unforgivable by the public:

Ghana Gold Board CEO Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, made news headlines after gifting an amount of about $800 to fetish priestess-turned-evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

Some members of the public called on President John Dramani Mahama to either suspend or sack Sammy Gyamfi over his action, but the presidency has stated that no further action will be taken against him after he was given a caution.

In a video shared on X, Gyamfi was seen standing beside his Range Rover, taking a photo with Nana Agradaa, who had her arm around him while they engaged in a brief conversation.

In the video at the centre of the controversy, Nana Agradaa was then heard making a remark to Sammy Gyamfi, prompting him to open the back door of the vehicle.

He then leaned into his car and begun counting several US dollar bills before handing a portion of the money to her.

However, Agradaa, seemingly unsatisfied, reached out and grabbed all the notes from Gyamfi’s hands.

Sammy Gyamfi later rendered an apology over the incident, explaining that he was only helping out a needy person, as he has always done.

Kumasi Mayor Agyemang Boadi:

There were also calls for the head of Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, who said that he is going to whip offenders who flout the law of trading on pavements.

Speaking at a press conference on April 14, 2025, Agyemang Boadi said that he issued a two-week notice to traders operating on pavements, urging them to find alternative spaces for their businesses.

"I have my own military-democratic style, which I will be implementing. When we say leave the space and you don't leave the space and I get there, and you're not there and my boys are with me, there and then, we will beat you," he warned.

He further stated; "In the middle of Adum, if I'm alone, you will be lucky, but if I'm with my ten boys, in their pick-up with their whips, trust me, we will beat you. If you don't want to experience that kind of situation, do what is right and lawful.

"This is Otumfuo's city, this is the Garden City of West Africa, and we have to preserve it. If you want the job to be difficult for me, I will let your body feel the difficulty you are giving to me."

Local government minister Ahmed Ibrahim:

There were also calls for the sack of the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, following his pronouncement on the controversial National Cathedral project.

The minister said that the project was unduly criticised to the point that it deterred people from sharing their candid view on the matter.

"The National Cathedral was demonised to a point that even if there is anything proper in it, you can't say it.

"Right from the start of the project, it was problematic. So, it is something that if you are talking about and you don't take care, you create problems for yourself. So, let's wait for the audit findings and the engagements with board members, then we will see the way forward," the minister said on Adom TV on April 2, 2025.

Health minister Mintah Akandoh:

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, came under a lot of criticisms from a section of the public, calling for his head after his confrontation with officials of the Tamale Teaching Hospital and the subsequent sack of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Adam Atiku.

Mintah Akandoh, during a visit to the Tamale Teaching Hospital on April 22, 2025, was captured in a heated exchange with Dr Valentine Akwulupwa, the head of the Emergency and Accident Ward of the hospital.

Mintah Akandoh, expressing his displeasure, could be heard saying, "Even me a minister, look at the way you are behaving in front of me, so you can imagine how you treat others."

He further went on to condemn the official's behaviour, raising concerns about the facility's approach to communication, particularly in how it engages with ordinary citizens who seek medical care.

"How can you behave like this? It means you are doing worse things here. I'm even worried about it. There is a problem here, so if a commoner comes around, how can they talk to this man here? How would he be able to communicate with them? There is a problem," Akandoh fumed.

Not long after the minister's visit, he announced the immediate dismissal of the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

The dismissal was confirmed across multiple news portals, where he said; "I have formally sacked the CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital with immediate effect."

Acting Chief Executive Officer of Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle:

There were also calls for the sack of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, after her altercation with the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyir, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, during a sitting of the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

A video of the incident shared by Channel One TV showed that the MP took offence at the description of his caucus as 'micro' by the Petroleum Commission CEO.

In response, Annoh-Dompreh, who is the Minority Chief Whip of Parliament, allegedly threatened to take Hardcastle on, a statement she did not take lightly.

"You are threatening me that you will take me on because you are who? My friend, don't bring yourself. What do you mean you are taking me on?" she fumed.

Annoh-Dompreh was not happy about the descriptive words used by the acting CEO to describe his caucus.

"You called us a micro minority?" the MP questioned. But you are a micro minority. Doesn't Afenyo (Minority Leader) himself use that phrase?" Hardcastle retorted.

"You think you can bully me here?" she added.

Amidst the melee created by their encounter, the MP accused the acting CEO of referring to him as "silly."

"Please, please, please. You cannot call me silly... We will deal with this matter," he stated.

After the incident, the acting CEO, accompanied by some of the leadership of Parliament, apologised to the Minority Whip over the incident, but this did not stop the calls for her sack.
