National Chief Imam calls for standard definition of terrorism.

The National Chief Imam Sheikh Nuhu Sharabutu has called on the International Community to come out with a standard definition for terrorism.

The chief Imam who was leading Muslim prayers at the Central Mosque in Accra in memory of the victims of last week's bombings of New York and Washington, condemned terrorism as a cowardly act and also called for a dispassionate and universally acceptable framework under which countries found guilty of masterminding and executing terrorist acts, will be punished irrespective of the race or religion of the people involved.

Sheikh Sharabutu, charged Muslims to live in peace with all people and join in the fight against terrorism since it is unethical for them to engage in activities which deprive humanity of peace and security.

Thousands of people from 30 different countries including Ghana, are believed to have perished in the tragedy, whilst the American people continue to count the cost of the attack.

The service was attended by the Vice-President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the Interior Minister, Alhaji Malik Yakubu, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Sheikh I C Quaye, and some senior Government Officials
