The Concern Citizens of Effutu, have appealed to President John Dramani Mahama, to consider as a matter of urgency, of appointing Mr Mike Allan Hammah, as a Minister of State, to help bridge the gap between the people and the government as a result of his exit.

Addressing a press conference after a float through the principal streets of Winneba on Tuesday, Mr Henry Arnold Bonney, a retired educationist, and an executive member of the group, said during the tenure of Mr Hammah, there was a proper link between the people within the constituency and the central government.

It was attended by chiefs, opinion leaders, and a large crowd of supporters of the National Democratic Congress from the Effutu Constituency.

Mr Bonney said Mr Hammah contributed a lot to the infrastructural development of the constituency in particular, and Ghana in general, when he was the MP and a Minister of State with different portfolios.

He mentioned some of development projects that Effutu benefited during Mr Hammah’s tenure of office as the rehabilitation of the Winneba Water Works, and the extension of good drinking water to 12 rural communities in Effutu and other areas.

The other projects were the construction of a feeder road to Warababa, the extension of electricity to all rural communities in Effutu, the construction of the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba, and the institution of a scholarship scheme for brilliant but needy students in the constituency and beyond.

“Indeed Effutu witnessed monumental development during the regime of Mr Hammah as an MP and a Minister of State.”

The Concerned Citizens of Effutu also appealed to Mr Hammah to consider the possibility of contesting the constituency primaries with the opening of nominations.
