Ankamah Boamah wins assembly

Mr Samuel Ankamah Boamah,an accountant by profession, has been elected to the Sunyani Municipal Assembly.

He received the endorsement of voters in the Sunyanitifi Electoral Area during last Tuesday's assembly and unit committee elections. The 61-year old accountant polled 124 votes whiles his competitor,Joe Kuma Ibrahim, alias Aban Kramo, managed only 58 votes. Speaking to Space FM's Francis Owusu-Ansah after the keenly contested poll, Mr Boamah said his victory was proof of the trust and confidence the people have in him and vowed not to betray this. "The mandate the electorate gave me is an indication of the trust they have in me and I have the responsibility to deliver to justify the support for me ", he said.

Mr. Boamah said he would continue to work hard to unite and sustain the peace in the area. Additionally, he would put his experience at the disposal of the assembly to help inject some pace into the socio-economic development of the municipality. "Let me point out that I would with the support from all work to sustain the peace in Sunyanitifi as well as put my experience at the disposal of the assembly to push development programmes forward", he said. Mr Boamah specifically pledged to ensure that lights, access roads and satellite market are provided for the area. A number of voters in the area who obviously voted for Mr Boamah and opinion leaders, expressed the confidence that they would not be surprised if their candidate is elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of the assembly. They argued that judging from the rich experience Mr.Boamah has in human relations, management, accounting, leadership and his desire to always put the needs of the larger community first, it would be a new year present if the house endorses him as the PM.
