Sport League First 2 datelined Sunyani

Sunyani Aston Villa defeated visiting Wa Upper Heroes 1-0 in the "Zone B1" Division One League (DOL) soccer encounter at the Sunyani Coronation park at the weekend. The lone goal was scored by Ibrahim Doe in the 33rd minute of the game. The second half of the match turned out to be very exciting as the Wa boys attacked in bursts while the home team stoutly defended their thin lead.

In the process the two teams played aggressively and sometimes very robust but Tamale-based referee Iddris Adam and his colleagues stamped their authority on the game to prevent any nasty incidents. In the 70th minute Rauf Yahaya of Upper Heroes was red-carded for unnecessarily challenging the referee's decision after an attacker of the Wa club had received a yellow card. Francis Dudoo of Upper Heroes and Faisal Iddris of Aston Villa, were also shown the yellow card for rough-play.
