Amasaman Embraces CPP

The Greater Accra Constituency of Trobu Amasaman , west of the capital and approximately 25km from the centre became alive with excitement on Saturday 10th December, when Leaders of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) arrived there to inaugurate a new Constituency Office.

The team lead by the National Chair and Leader Hon Samia Yaba Nkrumah MP, included General 2nd National Vice Chairperson Rodaline Imoru Ayarna, Secretary Ivor Kobbina Greenstreet, Women’s Organiser Mary Ankoma Boakye-Boateng, National Organiser Abu Forgor, Kwame Jantuah, Hajia Hamdatu Haruna, Greater Accra Regional Chairman Nana Boadi and a host of Regional, Constituency, and Ward Executive members.
To the sounds of hip-life and hi-life music CPP members , supporters and sympathisers had gathered at a
ceremony ground in Pokuase close to where the new party office is situated.

The grounds decked in CPP Party colours of Red, White and Green saw speaker after speaker applaud the selflessness of CPP Branch members lead by the Constituency Chairman Hon Amos A. Abutu, who had worked hard to secure donations from local, regional and national party members to buy building materials.
The building works were carried out entirely by CPP members - Masons, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters etc who all gave their services voluntarily and freely.

The hundreds who had gathered were entertained further by a Cultural Dance Troupe, Slim Buster’s Dance Group and endless music. Refreshments were also served by the party.

The General Secretary in his speech told members that the CPP is lead by an able team under Samia Nkrumah and that the new CPP had new plans for Ghana. Regional Chair Boadi asked all to contribute their widows mite to help the party.
Organiser Abu Forgor in his speech invited all who were not members of the party to register or miss the CPP train to government. He appealed to registered members to be more serious and active.
The greatest welcome and thunderous applause were reserved for the arrival of the CPP Leader who told the crowd that the CPP needs to help itself first before others can help the CPP. She said further that Trobu Amasaman was the way forward as an example which if replicated would move the party.

Expectations of the CPP visit were very high particularly among the market women who had gathered close to the Party office in discussions from Friday.
The CPP Leader thus lead a walk-around to the market to greet the Market Queen. She also met the Taxi Drivers Union before concluding with a street parade around local streets.

Local children gathered in their numbers to take pictures with the CPP team.

The much promised renewal of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) would seem to be gathering pace as another constituency office is opened .
