Alhaji Sani to contest for NDC Chairmanship position again

The former Ashanti regional First Vice-Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Mohammed Sani Senior has declared his intention to contest for the regional chairmanship position.

The NDC’s veteran leader whose leadership contributions brought NDC into office with an impressive increase of the party’s electoral votes in the region believes the party currently lacks leadership with political integrity to run the affairs of the party in the NPP’s stronghold hence his decision to contest.

"I'm back for good to contest for the regional chairmanship position with a collective goal of bringing back the NDC into power. The current young guys in our party leadership lack the Ashanti political historical facts to lead the NDC in the next crucial elections.

After we brought the party into office in 2008 with my experienced team, the young generation who took over from us has brought the party back to opposition," he said.

He added "I know a lot of the young guys who were my boys from the 90s have already announced to contest for the position including Joseph Yamin, he has started working towards that goal but I'm sorry they can’t stand my experience when the actual campaign commences," he warns.

According to Alhaji Saani, the NDC has what it takes to win the next general elections in 2020 admitting that it will be crucial.

"Look, the party in government (NPP) has already started writing our party manifesto for us with their abysmal performance in office for the past seven months.

They promised to reduce fuel price and a drastic reduction of harbour duty charges. However, nothing has been done about it and that is why Kennedy Agyapong and Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor among several others are disappointed in the seven months old NPP government," he said.
