Akufo-Addo excites Zebila, Nabdam and Sandema

*Sunday June 25th*:- Residents in the Upper East Region continue to show their resolute support for Nana Akufo-Addo as he tours the various constituencies in the region in his bid to win the NPP’s August 7 nomination to lead the party into the 2012 general elections.

The latest to express their support, solidarity and trust in Nana Akufo-Addo as the most preferred and popular candidate to wrestle power from the ruling NDC in the 2012 general elections are delegates and sympathisers of the Zebila, Nabdam and Sandema constituencies when Akufo-Addo toured these areas on Saturday, 26th June, 2010.

Clad in their bright party colours, residents and delegates in their large numbers thronged the streets to meet and cheer the arrival of Akufo-Addo into their respective towns. In a jubilant mood, men and women sang and danced to tunes mostly composed in their local dialects.

In a carnival style to usher Nana Akufo-Addo and his entourage including members of his Victory 2012 Campaign Team into the Zebilla constituency, the NPP aspirant could not resist the charged atmosphere but to wave back and fraternise with them till he finally got to his destination to interact with party delegates and sell his message of hope, unity and vision to them.

In the Nabdam constituency, residents and NPP supporters amidst brass band music and cultural display, held placards with inscriptions such as “Nana the Oracles have ordained you to be president” “Nana Nabdam is your stronghold” “Nana You are God’s sent” and “Nana you are the Best, No Challenger”.

Most residents who came to meet the team carried lanterns on her heads, giving an indication of how scarce and expensive kerosene has been under the so called better Ghana of the Mills administration.

Mr. Boniface Agambilla former NPP Parliamentary candidate in the area for 2008 elections hinted that it was a mere formality for Nana and his team to visit the area and that he was already in the lead among his contenders with regards to support in the upper east and from what he knows, the whole country.

“The people of Nabdam reward our leaders based on loyalty and commitment towards a course and that is what the NPP delegates will do for Nana Akufo-Addo come august 7” he said.

Nana Akufo-Addo in a speech described the incumbent MP for the NDC as an old pal in politics, whom he owed much respect, but advised him to make way for the NPP to improve upon the area.

‘It is about time my friend Moses Asaga made way for a vibrant NPP MP to continue from him and work harder to ease the suffering and deprivation been imposed on the people by the NDC, he said.

In a message to NPP delegates in the constituencies visited, Nana noted that the power that has now been given to polling station executives was the power of the entire party and nation and appealed to them to listen to the masses and vote for the best candidate capable of wrestling power from the NDC in the 2012 elections.

“If there is one name, on the lips of all Ghanaians from all over the country, among the five candidates, I plead with you to make the right choice and vote for that person to make our return to power much easier” he said.

Constituency Chairmen and opinion leaders also endorsed Akufo-Addo as the best bet for the NPP in the 2012 elections.

In Sandema, the chorus was the same. Speaker after speaker, including former DCE’s implored the delegates to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo. The crowd of people, which was almost impossible to control, hijacked the meeting with delegates for nearly an hour before making way for the program to kick start.
