Akufo-Addo Storms Atiwa

Thursday, August 26, 2010*:- It was a joyous atmosphere in the Atiwa Constituency and its environs when Nana Akufo-Addo arrived in the area to canvass for support for the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Mr. Kwesi Amoako-Attah in the upcoming bye election.

Amidst spontaneous cheers and jubilations from hundreds of residents who thronged to the streets to meet Nana Akufo-Addo and his entourage including Mr. Amoako Attah, Hon. O.B Amoah , Muncta Bamba, National Organizer of the NPP, Mr. Lord Commey, Former National Organiser of the NPP and all Regional and Constituency Executives.

Akufo-Addo’s first point of call was the New Jejeti Town where he received a hero’s welcome from market women who abandoned their wares to meet him on his arrival there.

Amidst brass band music and dancing, the crowd which quickly increased within minutes, just as Nana Akufo-Addo arrived and walked through the area to greet the residents and also paid a courtesy call on the Krontihene for Jejeti, Nana Kojo Odame.

The atmosphere became intense in Akyem Sekyere, Abakoase, Subiriso and Abomosu as hundreds of residents gathered at the outskirts of their respective towns and danced to NPP composed songs on Nana’s arrival.

Dozens of children were seen upon Nana’s arrival screaming ‘NANA OOO NANA”. Some party faithfull’s who could not hide the joy for the arrival of the NPP leadership besieged Nana Akufo-Addo’s vehicle for several minutes before he addressed a mini durbar to solicit for votes for the NPP in the upcoming by election in the Atiwa Constituency.

The NPP supporters also expressed their appreciation to the party delegates for re-electing Nana Akufo-Addo once more to contest the 2012 election Mr. Kwesi Amoako Attah to contest the Atiwa seat on the ticket of NPP.

In his message to the electorates in the constituency Nana Akufo-Addo disclosed that he was a native of the Atiwa Constituency since his late mother hails from Abomosu town, a suburb of Atiwa and therefore called on them to see him as one of them.

Nana Akufo-Addo described the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Atiwa Constituency as the best candidate among all his contenders due to his excellent track record as a Presiding Member for the Atiwa district.

“If there is any Candidate among those contesting the Atiwa Seat who can better articulate your problems in Parliament for prompt action then it is Mr. Kwesi Amoako-Atta who has served Atiwa as an Assembly Member and a Presiding Member for eight years” He said.

The NPP Parliamentary Candidate according to Nana Akufo-Addo has already proven his competence over the years at the district assembly and the entire constituency hence the need to elevate him to status of a Member of Parliament to continue with his good work at the legislature.

The Atiwa By election, Nana Akufo-Addo noted was a litmus test to show the ruling NDC evidence of their low popularity nationwide. He therefore called on the electorates to vote massively for the NPP to send a strong signal to the ruling NDC that majority of Ghanaians have lost confidence in the Mills administration and its unfulfilled campaign promises.

Mr. Kwesi Amoako-Attah appealed to the electorates to consider his immense contribution for the area whiles he was an Assembly Member and the Current Presiding Member of the district.

More to this he said he is well be informed about the development needs of the area and all he needs was the electoral supports for him to champion their course in parliament.

The Atiwa seat was declared vacant on the death of Kwasi Ankama, the MP and the bye-election has been slated for 31st August, 2010.
