Aidoo-Mensah confirmed as Gomoa West DCE

Apam (C/R), April 25, GNA - Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, President John Evans Atta Mills nominee for the post of District Chief Executive for Gomoa West has been confirmed by the assembly. Mr Aidoo-Mensah, 47, a former Chief Accountant of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) was approved at an emergency meeting at Apam last Friday when he polled 44 out of the 45 votes cast. He thanked the President and members of the assembly for the confidence reposed in him and assured them that he would not let them down. On education, he appealed to the Ghana Education Service consider the re-introduction of the 30 percent quota reserved for the selection of candidates from the locality of Senior High or Technical Schools to the schools. Mr Aidoo-Mensah said since the Computerized Selection and Placement System was introduced, the localities had not been benefiting from the quota, which enabled many children from poor homes to benefit from secondary education. Mr Samuel Tettey, Central Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, assisted by Mr Stephen Bertino, Gomoa West Electoral Officer conducted the election. Ms Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to improve upon their revenue generation and indicated over dependant on the District Assemblies Common Fund for their activities was not enough. Mr Francis Arthur, Member of Parliament for the area appealed to the Assembly to ensure that peace in the district was maintained. He called for cooperation of members to enhance speedy development.
