Agona West NDC vows to win 2012 elections-MCE

Agona Swedru, April 21, GNA - The Agona West Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to win both the Parliamentary and Presidential elections in 2012.

Mr Emmanuel Kweku Tetteh, the new Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) made this known when he took the oath of office at a short ceremony in Agona Swedru on Tuesday.

He said the party cannot afford to allow the opposition New Patriotic Party to continue to occupy the parliamentary seat for over 10 years and added that removing them could be achieved through unity, understanding and hard work.

Mr Tetteh said the party needed a united front to re-organize and build its structures at the wards and constituency levels to win more members for the elections.

He pledged to work hard to develop the Municipality in line with the 93Better Ghana Agenda" policy of the President. Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe, the Central Regional Minister, administered the oath of secrecy and office to Mr Tetteh following his confirmation by the Municipal Assembly.

The Regional Minister praised members of the Assembly for their overwhelming approval of Mr Tetteh and urged them to work hard to improve the revenue base of the Assembly. Nana Ogyabea Ehuren, Sanaahene of Swedruman Council of Chiefs, thanked the government for the appointment of Mr Tetteh as MCE for Agona West.

He said with the appointment, the government has fulfilled their dreams and aspirations because this was first time a son of Agona Swedru had occupied the high seat since 1960. He pledged the chiefs' support to the new MCE in order to realize his vision and aspiration for the area.
