Agona West MP re-elected at NPP Primaries

Agona Swedru (C/R), July 25, GNA - Mr. Samuel Kweku Obodai, Agona West Member of Parliament (MP) was on Friday re-elected as parliamentary candidate to contest Election 2004.

He polled 57 votes to beat Mr Paul Tawiah, who had 51 votes after a hectic second round of voting.

Mr Ebenezer Quarshie, the third contestant stepped down for Paul Tawiah before the commencement of the competitive election. Mr Serebour Quaicoe, District Electoral Officer supervised the election.

The two contestants had 54 votes apiece in the first round of voting.

Addressing the delegates, Dr Kweku Ghartey, Central Regional Chairman of the NPP called for unity and peace among the members to ensure victory for the Party.

He said the Party would not entertain any group of people, who would create confusion that could jeopardise the chances of the NPP. Dr Ghartey asked the supporters of the defeated contestants to throw their weight behind Mr Obodai and campaign for the Party. Mr Obodai pledged to continue the good work he was doing to lift the image of the constituency.
